My ferrets like pillow cases filled with crumpled up newspaper, they like the sound but they also love to tunnel through it so maybe your ferret will like it.
You can make a box tower. I taped 3 smaller boxes together with holes in each floor so they can go inside it and climb. I don't have a picture of the one I made for me ferrets but here's the one I made for my bunnies. Just make a smaller one.

Ferrets like to get into things so you could fill up a small garbage can or a paper bag with crumpled up newspaper and put some treats in it. My ferrets love to tip it over and dig through and find the treats.
