Adjustable & Customizable Office Must-Haves
One Size does NOT Fit All
My grandfather was 6'4" and was the shortest man in his family. My husband also comes from a very tall family in which many of the women hit 6 feet as well. However, my husband is just under 6 feet and our sweet son remains below the 20th percentile, while our daughter is off the charts. Hmmm....
Even in our immediate family, I have learned that one size does not fit all! In fact, I am stunned when I see even a hat that reads "one size fits all." If our bodies aren't all "average," then neither are our heads. As such, I am celebrating some of my favorite products that are adjustable for the user's comfort.
6 Adjustable &/Or Customizable Products
- Large frame designer reading glasses. Most petite people can find smaller frames, but big and tall folks tend to dwarf their reading glasses. Finally, a pair of frames that are stylish and fit your frame!
- Adjustable desks and workstations are a must in this ergonomically-unfriendly world. I am a fan of the sit or stand work station that adjusts comfortably for both positions, the One Step Adjustable Height (corner) desk, and the smart desk. Whether you need flexibility in how you work or you just need your desk to actually fit you, each of these ergonomic desks allow you that freedom.
- Lever Keyboard Arm System. A great way to place your keyboard and mouse side by side and adjust them both simultaneously, while keeping your arms, wrists, and hands in a neutral, non-straining position.
- Contour Mouse. This is the only mouse that is literally designed to fit your hand, whether it's petite, large, or "average." Mousing with a traditional mouse can really cramp a hand quickly, so using one that fits is a real treat!
- Ergonomic chairs with adjustable arm rests. Most office chairs aren't fully adjustable. You need to be able to raise and lower the actual seat pan and back support, as well as the arm rests. Again, no matter where you are on the short or tall, big or small spectrum, your chair should accommodate you exactly as you are.
- Split Keyboards. Split keyboards allow you to separate the 2 halves of the keyboard as wide as you like, offering more freedom in how you type.
The bottom line is that no matter whether you like the size of your bottom it is what it is, and it should be comfortable at work.
