Cleo is amazing! I guess my most amazing pet story has to be our most recent addition to our 4 legged family which now consists of 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 1 horse. I volunteer for local animal rescues but I have always asked to not foster animals. I knew that I would get way too attached and while I greatly appreciate those who are capable of doing this I don't need a house w/ 20 animals. One day I received a story about a chihuahua and her puppy who were living in horrid conditions. Mean people, loud yelling, no food, dogs only used for breeding, they never went outside...I could go on and on. Anyways, I finally agreed to save this mommy and her puppy. I figured that she would be mean as hell and that she wouldn't last long in our house but at least she would be out of the horrid place she was living in. So these 2 dogs get dropped off her around 9:30 pm and I take them upstairs to a bedroom and open the door to the crate fully expecting to get bit. Instead out walks this little dog scared to death w/ her tail between her legs but it was wagging. She was my dog from that very instant. All she had ever had was litter after litter of puppies...the last litter she had 6 and all but one died. (the puppy that came to my home w/ her was later adopted) I took her to the vet for her shots and to have her spayed...when I picked her up they said she was missing 16 teeth as a result of being kicked in the face all the time. In addition to that she also had scars all over her head from being attacked by the other dogs in the house. Long story short this little girl had a HORRID life and yet she still found the courage to love me and trust me. She only trusts my husband and myself and we are working with her to learn to trust other people but I just think that she is amazing. After all she has been through and she is such a wonderful dog. We adopted her and she is never leaving or ever living w/ someone like she did before.
