BLACK WIRE hard to love easy to lay
How to Wire and repair a Laptop's AC Adapter
Position the black wire that extends from the AC cable onto the gold or brass terminal of the replacement plug between the terminal and the screw. Tighten the screw while confirming that the copper wire is in contact with the terminal until the wire is secured.
Place the green wire that extends from the AC cable onto the green terminal of the replacement plug between the screw and the terminal. Tighten the screw until the wire is fastened securely and confirm that the wire is in solid contact with the terminal.
Disassemble the new AC adapter (plug)to expose the back of the three prongs. Depending upon the type of replacement plug, you may need to insert the cord through the housing of the plug before attaching the wires to the prongs on the plug.
Place the plug housing over the cable and wires and position on the plug, aligning the screw holes on the plug with the housing (and clamps on the housing if provided). Insert and tighten the screws securing the housing to the plug which should cover and protect the exposed wires.
Place the green wire in the green terminal and tighten the screw while confirming that the bare metal of the wire makes good contact with the bare metal of the screw and prong.
Flex the cable and look for breaks or frayed areas. If you detect a severed wire, the cable can be cut (unplug it first!) and the wires reconnected securely with solder. Tape up the cable when you are finished soldering to ensure proper insulation and prevent shock. Make sure that you match the wire colors correctly.
Remove the AC plug and the damaged area of the power cord from the AC adapter using the wire cutting tool. Remove 3 inches of the outer sheath from the power cord using a wire-stripping tool, so that the three cables inside the cord are accessible.
Remove the screws on the replacement AC plug. Insert the cord through the plug housing prior to fastening the wires to the plug. Loosen the screws on each prong of the replacement plug. Attach the white wire to the silver prong on the back of the replacement plug and then secure the wire in place by tightening the screw provided. Confirm that the wire copper makes good contact with the bare metal of the screw and prong.

Black goes to ground and the other wire goes to the gage.
